Cue the French music, spring is definitely in the air in this fabulous “Fleur de Vigne” dining room by designer Sam Ciardi of Samuel Robert Signature Spaces. This is another great designer room I have highlighted in this showhouse benefitting the Morristown Medical Center.

I could almost smell the heady fragrance from the bursting flower vines on that divine wallpaper.

More was definitely more here, and this room does not hold back.

Sam chose to double down on the floral theme with the glorious blooming tablescape and arrangements.

The result was unapologetically romantic and FUN!

French Impressionism

The analogous color scheme of lavender, lilac, purple, orchid, pink and blue was like being inside a Monet painting.

I love how the ceiling was treated with this trellis wallpaper. It made it feel like a garden room.

That large scale modern art set against that traditional bold floral wallpaper sent me to a happy place.

The creamy buffet table served up more French fare.

This gray painted hutch proudly displayed a lovely collection of china and crystal.

Tete-e-Tete

I loved how the captain’s chairs were pulled away and paired with this little occasional table.  This invites people to move around the room and enjoy conversation before the meal.

The addition of these chairs and cozy throw provided relief and softness from all the hard surfaced cased good furniture that typically make up a dining room.

That little table was so adorable. That is where the most fun happens anyway, at the kids table, right?

Smart & Pretty

Rather than individual placemats at each setting, there were two long runners that ran the length of each side of the table.

Three low floral arrangements completed the tablescape with the center one set over a mirrored tray.

The blue and orchid color combination was lovely. Very Charlotte Moss!

Those two crystal chandeliers were oh so glamorous.

I was quite inspired by this room for my Easter holiday table! How about you?

Tablescape Takeaways

Do you freeze in fear when it comes to decorating?

Well, putting together a tablescape is a safe place to up your home decor game.

It’s all temporary! No big commitment. Nothing scary here. It’s just dishes.

Start with what you have. Shop your china cupboard, you probably have great stuff!

Gather some online inspiration. What mood do you want to set? Romantic and lush? Stately and refined? Modern and simple? Hone in on your look and then you have your starting point.

Take pictures of your china with you to shop for table linens and flowers.

Shop vintage for interesting glassware.

Keep it Simple. Do you get overwhelmed with floral arrangements? Three containers of a single type flower always works. This is Ina Garten’s trick!

Harness the power of repetition. Are you using place cards? Want to show off special dessert plates? Whatever you do, repeat it throughout your tablescape.

Invite others to help. My highly creative daughter, Becca, developed a tablescape talent that began years ago when I asked her to set the table. It just kept growing!  Her Game of Thrones icy winter themed dinner tablescape a few years ago was EPIC. Kids are so visual these days. Get them involved.

Whatever you do, channel your inner romantic, keep it pretty and GO FOR IT!

Spring is here!

Happy hunting,

Pattie Jo
